This diploma thesis presents the design of sidewalks in selected localities in Kyjov. This master's thesis deals with the three projects. The first one is a revitalisation of Vrchlickeho street, next one deals Svatoborska and Riegerova street. The last part is a design of sidewalks in these streets: Brandlova, U vodojemu, Moravanska and Netcicka. The redesign of horizontal and vertical solution is developed and proposed based on the obtained data. These projects are focused on the increase of comfort of the sidewalks, maximalisation of the number of parking lots and improves traffic safety. It was important to connect the designed parts as roads and sidewalks to the rest of the landscape, buildings and roads continuously. This proposal contains solution of the drainage, the traffic signs, the improvement of the safety and comfort of pedestrians and persons with disabilities. This redesign respects affected lands and their usage. It respects existing engineer networks and requirements of territorial plan of the town Kyjov.
Liberec, Ruprechtická x Michelský Vrch
Kaňková, Kateřina ; Belda, Miroslav (referee) ; Smělý, Martin (advisor)
This diploma thesis presents various redesign scenarios of the intersection of Ruprechticka, Michelsky vrch and U Pramenu streets located in Liberec, Czech Republic. The work presented in this thesis is as answer to the current intersection arrangement that does not meet the requirements of a safe traffic crossroad due to its broad, unorganized spatial arrangement. Three redesign options are developed and proposed based on performed traffic volume counts, vehicular speed monitoring, and previous history of traffic accidents in this intersection. Implemented traffic calming measures include significant changes to the lane arrangement and width in the intersection. It is proposed that the U Pramenu street is converted to one-way street to further reduce the overall traffic volume travelling through the intersection. Moreover, all redesign scenarios and strategies focus on improving safety and comfort of pedestrians and persons with disabilities. Finally, a multiple-criteria decision analysis is carried out and the most viable redesign option is selected.
Study of the time needed for getting an all-round view and deciding in giving the right of way
Bařina, Jakub ; Bradáč, Albert (referee) ; Semela, Marek (advisor)
This thesis deals with detection and analysis of a time needed for getting an all-round view before entering other vehicle's corridor during different conditions and speed. In the theoretical part a brief research is made concerning the subject of causes of accidents, aspects of human perception and driver's outlook. The analytical part derives from video recordings of on-road trials. The results was processed and the obtained data evaluated in order to find out the time needed for getting an all-round and making a decision while situated in the intersection. Above that, the data served as a determination of safety during intersection passing and quality of estimates of speed and distance of incoming vehicles. The conclusion of the analytical part is dedicated to participants mutual comparison and analysis of particular situations that occurred during the trials.

The new proposal improves viewpoint and orientation conditions for drivers. This improves traffic safety in this location. This proposal contains solution of parking, traffic signs, drainage, improving safety and comfort of pedestrians and persons with disabilities. This redesign respects affected lands and their usage. It respects existing engineer networks and requirements of territorial plan of the municipality Švábenice.
Analysis of roundabout design parameters and their impact on accidents.
Novák, Jan ; Karpíšek,, Zdeněk (referee) ; Mahdalová,, Ivana (referee) ; Macur, Jiří (referee) ; Holcner, Petr (advisor)
The dissertation deals with the analysis of roundabout design elements and their impact on accidents. The analysis objective was to identify the important elements of roundabouts that have impact on accidents. In order to achieve this goal, the multifactorial statistical safety assessment method was used on the basis of a representative sample of data, by developing several safety performance functions, verifying them and interpreting the result. Several design elements, which from the point of view of the traffic accident mechanism belong to the infrastructure factor, have been identified: AADT, average diameter, entrance width, entry angle, direct passage angle, location and many others. The original sample contained about 1200 roundabouts, which were reduced to 200 based on data availability. Accident frequencies were monitored between 2009 and 2016, i.e. for eight years, resulting in total 2674 roundabouts accidents. The result is an accident prediction model, developer based on roundabout approach design elements, and map of critical roundabouts, identified based on empirical Bayes estimate of accident frequency. Following approach parameters were identified: AADT, entry angle, distance between collision points, deviation of angles between approaches, presence of apron, presence of bypass, entry type, presence of pedestrian crossing and surrounding area type.
Influence of the Elements Surrounding the Road on the Traffic Safety
Bláhová, Eva ; Bradáč, Albert (referee) ; Semela, Marek (advisor)
The thesis deals with the influence of the elements in surrounding the road on the traffic safety, focusing on visual distraction of the driver. Within the theoretical part are characterized transport system and its individual components (driver, environment and road, means of transportation and transport infrastructure) with emphasis on aspects affecting traffic safety and visual perception of the driver. The analytical part draws from video records with driving tests provided by the Institute of Forensic Engineering of Brno University of Technology. They were processed and the data were evaluated to determine mainly the length of individual driver’s gazes on particular elements in surrounding the road and their comparison with the time dedicated to driving. The conclusion of this part is intended for the studies of advertising signs as they are the elements with significant influence on driver’s distraction. Interpretation of the results followed by designing their applications to increase traffic safety is included in the last chapter.

Evaluation of Technical and Economic Parameters for the Expansion of Electronic Toll Collection in the Czech Republic
Svatoš, Ivo ; Kudláček, Jaroslav (referee) ; Libertín, Josef (advisor)
The work evaluated on the basis of commonly available data some of the implications of collection toll of highway D1 and D5. It focuses on identifying potential alternative routes by using statistics of national traffic census. On these routes it evaluates the changes of traffic safety, which can show the change of traffic intensity of trucks. Next part evaluates potential economic benefits of bypassing toll routes. In the end it notes possible scenarios of impacts extended toll zones to the above fact findings.
The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and other factors on road traffic safety in the Czech Republic
Schusterová, Josefína ; Chytilová, Julie (advisor) ; Zeynalova, Olesia (referee)
This thesis focuses primarily on determining the potential effect of Covid-19 on road traffic safety in the Czech Republic, measured by the daily volume of traffic collisions. The additional incorporation of weather and seasonal fac- tors contributes to the complexity and uniqueness of this work. Although it is possible to Ąnd relevant foreign literature on the relationship between the pandemic and traffic accidents, this phenomenon has not been widely studied in the Czech Republic. The hypotheses were tested by applying the Ordinary Least Squares es- timation on time series data. The frequency of traffic accidents signiĄcantly decreased with the presence of Covid-19 disease, especially during the state lockdown periods. A similar pattern was observed by the remaining analysed categories of collisions, except for those with alcohol and drugs detected by the offender, which were positively inĆuenced by the pandemic. The wind is the only statistically insigniĄcant weather variable in our analysis, and the state holidays all turn out to signiĄcantly affect the number of traffic accidents. Over- all, the thesis contributes to the revelation of traffic trends during the Covid-19 disease and helps to predict the traffic safety situation in a possible future state of emergency of a similar kind.
Problems of car-driving under alcohol intoxication focused on the driver risking behaviour
Matějková, Radka ; Šucha, Matúš (advisor) ; Reichelová, Lenka (referee)
The bachelor's work is focused on car-driving under alcohol intoxication. This work considers a risky behaviour of drivers related to alcohol consuming and reasons which lead to hazardous behaviour on the roads. It also informs about possible risks and consequences connected with this problems and statistic survey of accidents due to driving under alcohol influence. This work further informs about an alcohol influence on a human, about possibilities of prevention in traffic, and about generally attitude of Czech society to this legal drug. The survival part addressed two hundred volunteers who filled my questionnaire out. One hundred and nine people were used as a representative sample to ilustrate the situtation connected to driving under alcohol intoxication. The survival is concerned on pesonal features of the volunteers and on circumstences which determined the volunteers who drank alcohol and then drove. The survival realized on the base of the questionnaire which was either delivered by e-mail or personally. The result of this 6 survival is informations which describes a driver who tends to accept the risk of alcohol driving and resons which can be reponsible for alcohol driving.
